Hi all,

As we are having 3 app 1 CI and 1 DB.

But 100 % utilisation is on only one app where as other apps utilisation is 40 to 30 %.

Since all the app are of same strenth and in same logon group.

will you please suggest on this.

And what would be the role of Dispatcher?

How shall I check it?

Eg :

Users In App 1 >> 60 Users.

Users In app 2 >> 15 Users.

Users In App 3 >> 20 Users.

Shiv,

Check the response time of each app server and CI into SMLG. Click on each instance to see the change of response time.

Message server assign new request to instnace with best response time. Make sure that your Basis SP and kernel are updated so that response time calculation function work accurately.

Hi Shiv

I am not sure what utilization are you talking about. If its the one you see in the ST06 screen, then those are the current parameters for every instance.

Also please check the no. of WP configured on every instance and the operating modes.

For the role of dispatcher, please refer to the following link:

Did you check with the users , the link / SAPGUI entry they are using for logon?

are they hitting the app or the ci/ms, if so what is the logon group defined for most users? PUBLIC/SPACE or any other ?

also please check in smlg ('X') if the heavy app still exhibits lowest response times.

Please check whether the users are routed through logon group or directly to application servers. If so...the message server wouldn't be contacted and load balancing will never happen

Also check for RFC connections which are mentioned with the app servername instead of maintaining groups while defining from other servers

Shiv,

You can check list of users of each application server from tcode AL08.

Else SMLG - goto - userlist

to see the quality of your servers SMLG - goto - Load distribution.

Hi,

As per your mail the role of Despatcher is assigning workprocess to run the dialog task.

when the task comes despatcher talks with message server to allocate work process.

Message server inturn discuss with Enque server to obtain the locks also. Then as per message server advice the Dispatcher allocates the workprocess to perform User task.

This is the role of Despatcher.

Hi,

Logon load balancing is used to configure to optimally distribute the load among all application servers in log on group.

log on group can also be utilised to handle the instances failure.when we r trying to communicate with log on group we are communicating logical group. No instances is running so it directly goes to msg.ini file.

Go to Transaction SMLG > click on create tab > create user groups with Instance numbers >

Go to Log on pad and click on groups > specify mesage server host and select log on group.

Go to Initialization files > select sapmsg.ini and entry in >services ( 3600/tcp/ip )

EX: sapms"sid" 3600/tcp.
