Hi,

There are many reasons for BOM not selected. Some of listed below:

1. Check the material having valid date BOM, ie BOM should be available on planned order basic start.

2. Check the BOM usage

3. check the BOM status ( Active or inactive)

4. Check material assigned with any prod version.

5. In MRP4 view check the BOM selection method. Lot size means check the lot size in BOM header.

Hi,

Do below checks,

- For Header Material Check in Material master mrp 4 view for MRP for Dependent requirement - It should be maintain as Planned.

- If you are using Production version then check whether system has found valid Production version for Header material during MRP.

Check also consistency of production version in C223.The end result should be green light for both BOM and Routing.

- Check valid from and to date and From to TO Lot size of Bill of Materials.

Hi,

You need to check Matarial master settings for the material specifically MRP-4 View -

>BOM Explosion / dependent requirements -

> Selection Method

Further also check whether valid BOM exists with usage 1- Production for the material or not alongwith proper valid from & valid to dates.

Also find here more details about BOM selection procedure :

Selecting a BOM for the Explosion

When a BOM is exploded, the system checks the material master record of the header material (Basic Data view). The Valuate effectivity indicator influences the possible entries for the explosion.

If this indicator is not set in the material master record, the BOM is exploded according to the Valid-from date.

If the indicator is set in the material master enter the effectivity requirements for the explosion in the Valuate effectivity parameter dialog box.

Selection Criteria

The following selection criteria influence which BOM is selected:

Valid-from date

You must enter a valid-from date if you have processed the material BOM several times with change numbers that have a valid-from date defining their effectivity (the SAP System standard). This gives rise to several effectivity periods.

If you enter a change number, the system determines the valid-from date from the change master record.

Change number

If you enter a change number, you display the version of the BOM that is effective for this change number.

Revision level

If you enter a revision level, the system finds the related change number and displays the version of the BOM that is effective for this change number.

Required quantity

If the BOM is a multiple BOM, you see the alternative for the lot-size range that corresponds to the required quantity. If you do not enter a required quantity, the base quantity is automatically the required quantity.

Pls. check above settings.

This may resolve your problem.

Still problem persists then revert back with more details about settings you have maintained.

Hi!,

Please check validity period, lot size, bom selection ID settings. Or search for similar threads which are posted earlier for the same scenario. You can find a detailed check list there to investigate in to the matter.

Just delete the BOM and recreates with validity start date in past (e.g. 01.04.2008). I think this will solve the problem if because of backward scheduling system is not picking the valid BOM in MRP.
