Hi Gurus,
We have a quire in EP7.0 .
Do we have some kind of auto logout/time-out in the portal, to avoid load increases?
Do we have some kind of u201CSorry portal unavailableu201D page to display to the user when there is some technical issue on it?
Regards
Srini
Hi Srinivas,
As per SAP Note 982982, Portal does not provide this functionality because portal is not only a web application but also a container for other applications integrated. SAP logon ticket which normally has a long period of validity (by default 8 hrs) is needed for SSO and thus users are re-authenticated after Portal http sessions are timed out.
But you can achieve the Portal Idle timeout with some custom Javascripts that manually call logoff for Portal.
Please refer this thread for this:
[Portal Timeout|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/ep/epSnippet-Portaluseridletimeoutforlogoff-custom+javascript]

Thanks Anja,
Is there any official information/note available regarding portal session timeout due to in activity?
As far as I have checked, portal session timeout due to inactivity can be achieved using custom development , but not using direct configuration/setting.
However, I am looking for official proof for this.

Hi Srinivas,
The termination of the Portal and all Web Dynpro applications as a whole is defined by the Security Session timeout.
This is an absolute timeout value, that always terminates the whole security session after the defined period of time independtly from any user interaction. The expiration of the HTTP sessions is handled automaticaly and does not need to be cared about. When the HTTP sessions are created they get the maximum of the application session timeout and the default HTTP session timeout. After the corresponding application session has been destroyed, the HTTP session gets a very small value to expire as soon as possible.
Go through SAP NOTE Note 842635 to make the suitable changes. Also refer to NOTE 842878 for Session Management Information.
Hope that helps.
Ray

Hi Srinivas,
Have a look into the below:
1) HTTP Provider Service.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/52/46f6a089754e3a964a5d932eb9db8b/frameset.htm
From the SAP note 842635...See below:
"Please set the timeout value for the security sessions (default 27h) and the timeout value for the SSO ticket (default 8h) to the same value. It should be a value that is higher than the maximum working time of an employee, e.g. 16 hours.
You find the setting for the security session in the Visual Administrator, 'Security Provider', 'SessionExpirationPeriod', enter value in unit milliseconds. The default value is '100.000.000' what equals about 27h."
That could the answer to the steps you need. I did not try that myself and I hope that it works for you
Hope that helps and award points for helpful suggestions.
Ray
Hi Ray
We have already seted these value.
'SessionExpirationPeriod', enter value in unit milliseconds. The default value is '100.000.000' what equals about 27h.
SSO Single Sign On ticket is---8 hours
My question is these are the default values or we can reduce it?
Please replay it
Thanks and Regards
