Attaching segment to Message type.

How are segments attached to a Message type. I want to know the step wise process if any as i am a novice in this field.

I apologise for not being descriptive in my question.

Yes i am talking about IDOC messages. Basically i want to know how are the segments attached/configured to an IDOC message types.

this really depends on your requirement.

IDOC at all have a more or less fixed definition. Adding own segment will have no real benefit, if there is no processing logic behind.

Some IDOC types will have user exit support to move data in and out.

Have a look at the notes about ARTMAS etc.
