Oracle file backup error: "The media surface is damaged"

OS:AIX

DB:Oracle 10.2.0.2.0

SAP:BW7.0

I was going to do a Unicode Conversion of SAP BW7, and before this, it need to have a backup of the SAP and Oracle file.

But when I doing a Oracle file backup with cp command,

"cp -fprh /oracle/BW2"

has the following error.

" /oracle/BW2/sapdata4/bw2_2/bw2.data2: The media surface is damaged "

Does anyone has the experience of solving this problem?

Hi,

This looks like a disk hardware error. Check the AIX logs to get more information.

Perform a hardware diagnostic test on the disk to ensure it is working fine.
