Hi Everybody,
I'm little bit confuse abt the multiple INSTANCE methodology using the same DB. ..
Is there any way to install SAP R/3 and CRM or SAP R/3 and BI 7 ..both on a single system with one DB?
and what can be done by using two Instance.. a Central Instance and Dialouge Instance?
Thanks Regards,
m.s.b
You have the concept completely wrong....
You can indeed install two different systems like (CRM abd BI) in the same server using the same database. basically the database will have two instances and each SAP system will behave completely independent to the other... the only problem is when you need to do maintainance to your systems that include restarting the DB you will have to stop both systems before proceeding.
Hope is clear now.
Regards
Juan

Installation Guides are available at SAP Marketplace.
Central Instance is the one that holds the enque process, enque process handle the locks on the database. Dialog Instances are used for a variety of reasons the main one is to increase the amount of work processes so the system can serve more users.
