Yes. You can define your own number range for auction.
and you must define transction type for auction too..

Hi Chinna,
Any transaction type you wish to use must have number ranges defined. They are listed bellow:
Define Number Ranges for Shopping Carts and Follow-on Documents
Define Number Ranges per Backend System for Follow-on Documents
Define Number Range for Local Purchase Orders
Define Number Ranges for Purchase Order Response
Define Number Range for Local Bid Invitations
Define Number Range for Local Bids
Define Number Range for Local Confirmations of Services and Goods Receipts
Define Number Range for Local Invoices
Define Number Ranges for Invoice Defaults
Define Number Ranges for Purchase Contracts
Define Number Ranges for Vendor List
Define Number Ranges for Auctions
Supplier Relationship Management > SRM Server > Cross-Application Basic Settings > Number Ranges > SRM Server Number Ranges
You must also define Transaction Types in the following path:
Supplier Relationship Management > SRM Server > Cross-Application Basic Settings > Define Transaction Types
Check the Strategic Sourcing Configuration Guide. If you want I can send it to you.

Hi muthuraman and Henry
Thanks for ur response
Actually i have strategic sourcing cockpit guide but was not clear on Auctions and Bidding
Actually i thought that when we were using Bidding Engine then only we need to create Bid Invitation and for Live Auction Cockpit we need to create Auction.
Even in LAC do we need to define number range, transaction type and create Bid Invitation

Chinna

Hi,
Check in this way:
SAP Implementation Guide --> Supplier Relationship Management --> SRM Server --> Cross-Application Basic Settings --> Number Ranges --> SRM Server Number Ranges --> Define Number Ranges for Auctions
After create a new number range, define in the transaction type in this way:
SAP Implementation Guide --> Supplier Relationship Management --> SRM Server --> Cross-Application Basic Settings --> Define Transaction Types
