description DIAG protocol

Hi,

I need to decode ip traffic between SAP GUI and SAP dispatcher.

Can you tell me where I can find a description of the DIAG protocol? (Header...)

Hi Nico,

Whilst I doubt youu2019ll find a full description of the DIAG protocol you can gain some interesting insights by sniffing it with a network capture tool such as Wireshark. A recently released plugin makes sniffing even the compressed version possible.

Whilst this concentrates mainly around the password sniffing aspect it also captures the entire GUI DIAG conversation.

Hi Nicolas,

The DIAG protocol is nothing but a special type of RFC protocol between the SAP Frontend and SAP Server (Dipatcher and Message Server).

And RFC is nothing but a Remote Function Call between one systemto another and of course it uses the TCP/Ip protocol underneath.
