Backgrond jobs running for a long

Hi All,

I have scheduled a report in background jobs and it's running for a long time now(Over 3 lakh seconds!).

I can't see much activity from SM50 or SM51 for this user/report.

I'm not sure whether the report is really running or not...

Could anyone please suggest what should I do next?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Warm Regards, Pradeep

Check in sm37.Choose the options schedule and then execute.

If it is scheduled properly you will know it.

Hi Pradeep,

If it is not running in sm50 then the job is not active.Try resting the status of the job.

SM37 ->Select the job and from menu job->status it will show the real status.

Hi Ashok,

I had tried it already...

It says "1 jobs were checked and 0 jobs were corrected"

Check the job log at SM37... also check SM21 for errors.

HI,

Are you able to cancel the job in sm37?

Read below note

Note 924840 - A background job unexpectedly runs for a long time

Hi

Check the Job Log in SM37. Also check the Job step for Paramaters. It might keep waiting for a input file Which is missing.

check the Syslogs as well.

Hi Juan,

I lakh in India means a hundred thousand )

Hi Pradeep,

Apparently the job has dumped internally may be due to heap memory limit reached or something like that . Check the trace file of the work process in SM50 and look for the errors.

Better still run a trace using ST05 on the same application server where the job is running. Most likely nothing will turn.

In that case please kill the work process.
