Hi,
Partitioning is done to improve the query performance while reporting. It stores the data in smaller partitions (based on how you create partitioning) and at the query run time, instead of going thru the complete data, processor searched only relevant partition there by improving the searching efficiency resulting in better query performance.

You use partitioning to split the total dataset for an InfoProvider into several, smaller, physically independent and redundancy-free units. This separation improves system performance when you analyze data delete data from the InfoProvider.
