First things to check:

Are the archives containing kernel files in directory /usr/sap/trans/EPS/in?

Correct version of kernel files?

Read permission for archives?

Thank you for all your suggestions. I resolved the issue. it was a permission problem, I set the permission again and now its working

So I did remove the old igs files and replace them with new one. Now I cant see igs running

Did you restart igs?

Among the exe files there should be stopigs and startigs.

And there should be an igs log directory.

I checked the exe directory and I dont see any igs files there, but I am able to get to the IGS when running report GRAPHICS_IGS_ADMIN from SA38. What could this mean?

Sometimes IGS exe files are not in the usual exe directory, but in /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS<nr>/igs/bin, or maybe somewhere else.

Not sure if JSPM is able to upgrade in this case.

hope this helps

Hi,

Just uncar the igs car files and then copy paste in the exe folder.

I did check I have the old version of IGS, its 7000.0.2.0 and I have checked several times that I downloaded the correct version.

Here is the thing, I have downloaded the files thru SOLMAN and I got several igsexe files but when I go and check manually on SAPnet there is only one file. I even tried to put all those igs files in the EPS/in directory and still it didnt take

Bill,

what exactly do you men by I got several igsexe files ?

As far as I knwo, you should have got exactly two files,

the one you mentioned, and igsexe_12-10003076.

The latter is for release notes or the like, the other is needed for upgrade.

Correct me if I am wrong!

And by No, I dont see the past IGS version, do you mean you don't see it in JSPM?

If so, then this is the actual root cause.

You might try to find a solution for this, or manually upgrade IGS first.

No, I dont see the past IGS version, but according to the guide I should be able to update IGS with JSPM and moreover I did kernel and igs update succesfully with JSPM on other system last week.

Samrat,

a few days ago I did upgrade IGS with JSPM, from some file igsexe_*.sar.

Bill,

let me suggest you double-check if you have got correct files for your OS and IGS version.

Or have you got an old IGS version installed at all?

regards

Thanks for replying. It picked up the kernel file but its not picking the IGS files now. I have the following files in the EPS/in:

SAPEXE_159-20001001.SAR

SAPEXEDB_159-20001000.SAR

igsexe_12-10003076.sar

since its SOLARIS SPARC server.

I assume JSPAM is only designed to pick and Kernel (sapexe.....sar) file

are you able to see past IGS version in JSPAM?
