Hi,

Methods of previewing/refresh a report

- Click the Print Preview button on the Standard toolbar.

- Click the Refresh button to the far right of the Report Designer's screen

Below are the steps to create a sample report with Xtreme sample database.

To connect to an ODBC data source

1 From the Database Expert, select Create New Connection.

2 Expand the Create New Connection list and locate ODBC (RDO).

3 Click ODBC (RDO).

4 Click the appropriate data source, and then click Next.

The second window of the ODBC (RDO) dialog box appears, displaying the connection information needed to log on to the selected data source.

5 In the Connection Information section of the ODBC (RDO) dialog box, enter your user ID and password, if required, and then click Finish.

Ex: Select the Xtreme Sample Database

Tip: In your organization the database may be secure, meaning you might be prompted for a user ID and password. For this course, the sample database has not been secured.

You are returned to the Database Expert with the connection to the data source highlighted.

Note: In this example, the Xtreme Sample Database is selected.

To add a table

1 From the Available Data Sources area on the Data tab of the Database Expert, select the table you want to add to your report and click the > arrow to add it to the Selected Tables list.

2 Click OK.

To link tables

1 Confirm the tables are linked correctly.

2 Click OK.

To insert fields onto a report

1. On the Standard toolbar, click Field Explorer.

The Field Explorer dialog box appears. To speed the report building process, this dialog box remains on screen until you close it. You can move this dialog box wherever you want.

2 Expand the Database Fields folder to see all the tables chosen from the database(s).

3 Expand the individual tables to see all the fields they contain.

4 Select the field you want to appear in the report.

5 Click Insert to Report and then click to place it in the report.

After you place a field onto a report, a check mark appears on the field in the Field Explorer.

Note: When you roll the cursor over an object, the object becomes highlighted

Very thanks but my question is about how to create an report executable.

Creating EXE reports (compiled reports) was possible back in 8.5 or earlier I believe but that is not possible with CR9 or above.

Understand, now other questions. Who do I configure or install in a user needing to access a report designed from my computer with the Crystal Reports version 2008. Thanks and greetings from Costa Rica.

Please create a new message thread for a new question. One thread for multiple questions isn't encouraged. Keep everything separate and it's MUCH easier to search for issues.
