How to configure BI reports in KM?

Hi all,

I have to currently work a sample on KM... The idea is to extract information from BI and file servers, and structurize the information into KM which could then be viewed in Portal...

The question is :

How to extract contents from BI? what are all the adapters needed for it? What are all the prerequisites to be learnt to do it?

Thanks for all your replies. You have helped me in getting right path to solution.

Is there any elearning available which explains the following:

1) How to publish BI reprots into KM content?

2) How to configure KM for providing KM functions such as Subscribe, Mail, Download, Add notes, Ratings, Feedback,etc...?

If it is, then provide me the links.. Which could practically helps me in learning...

any folder can be directly Subscribed in KM for Shootung mails.

Thanks for your reply. But i need some more information like

How to add BI reports to Portal, such that my content should be available to all the users of the portal at the following link:

"Content Administration -> KM Content" ...

The users should be able to subscribe to it, or discuss about it, Download it, Provide feedback about it, etc.

Hello Suresh,

As i have mentioned u earlier that u can create BI Iview and assign that iview to role and can play with User Access to that Iview for sure now thuis thing aplies when u are haveing URL for ur BI Reports in BI Server.

If u r haveing Bi data in .doc or any ppt or txt format documnet then u can directly create one folder in content Administration > Km Content and can Upload ur document in that folder and can subscribe to that folder.

U can Configure Repository for ur data also but since u r new to portal as u have told so it would be a bit difficult for u.

i think folder creation and uploading data and subscription will be fine.

If yes then kindly ask for Detail procedure i will guide u on that

You have given me the answers in an expert point of view... I am a fresher to KM... I want to do a demo on KM, by loading BI data to KM repository and displaying it in Portal... I want to know what things needs to be learnt for this...

What is the adapter or connector used to connect BI and KM Meta layer? How to import data from BI to KM?

Hello Suresh,

Here is my Suggetion to u.

For connectivity b/w ur Portal and BI System u can create Sytsem in EP Once this System is created theare is bridge is establised so that communication can take place b/w EP and BI now Next is u can create BI Iview to display ur BI Reports in EP.

For creation of Sysytem.

1) Navigate to Sysytem Administration> System Configuration

2) Right Click Select New System Select This Template

SAP system using dedicated application server.

3) Enter System Name , ID And Prefix Click Next

4) Enter Application Host,

Gateway Host

Gateway Service

Logon Method as User ID Password

SAP Client

SAP System ID (SID)

SAP System Number

Server Port

System Type as SAP BW

User Mapping Type as User Admin

Click on Save

Now Define Aliase for the System

And then ,do userr Mapping for the System with the credentials u r logged in to ur Portal

test the Syetem form Connection Test it Should be up and running.

NOW U R DONE WITH CONNECTION NOW U CAN CALL UR REPORTS FROM BI SYSTEM.

For thta u have to create BI Iview .

Steps for creation of Iview.

1) Navigate to Content Administration> Portal Content

2) Right Click Select New Iview

Use this Template for creation of Iview

SAP BW Report iView

Enter Name ID and Prefix Click Next now .Select SAP_BW Sytem and enter the URL of ur Report in

BEx Web Application Query String *

Click Next u r doen with the Iview .
