how to sell make-to-order computers and consume components?

I have this project:

I have to configure MM SD FI for a customer selling PCs.

He wants to order from his suppliers: processor/monitor/RAM/CD/DVD/keybord/mouse etc. and keep them in stock in his plant.

He wants then to create a Sales Order by creating on the presence of the final customer the final PC.

He wants to choose each time the components and create the line item(final PC), in the sales order. The final price should be the overall of the components.

He also wants each time a Sales Order is completed, the desired amount of components to be removed from stock. This way he will be able to order components whenever he thinks the stock is low.

My thoughts:

I open as materials the components, order them, recieve them and keep them in plant.

How can SD create a SO as I describe above?

How can each time the final built PC consume and remove the amount of components needed from the stock?

Hi,

Make the Computer as a combination of different variants. Do variant configuration and rest all process will be same. VC will take care of all other requirement.

Do I have to use PP with variant config? can I do it without using PP? How?
