Hello,

There seems to be a 'space' character in the Java Startup Parameter

The server is now failing sadanly with the following message in the dev_server0 log file (work directory)

**********************************************************************

JStartupIReadSection: read node properties ID18437450

-> node name : server0

-> node type : server

-> node execute : yes

-> jlaunch parameters :

-> java path : D:\j2sdk1.4.2_13

-> java parameters : -Djava.security.policy=./java.policy -Djava.security.egd=file:/dev/urandom -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBClass=com.sap.engine.system.ORBProxy -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=com.sap.engine.system.ORBSingletonProxy -Djavax.rmi.CORBA.PortableRemoteObjectClass=com.sap.engine.system.PortableRemoteObjectProxy -Djco.jarm=1 -XX:MaxPermSize=256M -XX:PermSize=256M -XX:NewSize=171M -XX:MaxNewSize=171M -XX:DisableExplicitGC -verbose:gc -Xloggc:GC.log -XX:PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dsun.io.useCanonCaches=false -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=1 -XX:SurvivorRatio=2 -XX:TargetSurvivorRatio=90 -Dorg.omg.PortableInterceptor.ORBInitializerClass.com.sap.engine.services.ts.jts.ots.PortableInterceptor.JTSInitializer -Djava.io.tmpdir=d:\EP_TEMP -Dcm.tmpdir=d:\EP_TEMP -Djco.trace_level=10 -Djco.trace_path=d:\trace -Djavax.security.auth.useSubjectCredsOnly=false -Djava.security.krb5.conf=D:\usr\sap\POT\SYS\global\kerberos\ID184374\krb5.conf -Dsun.security.krb5.debug=true -Dorg.omg.PortableInterceptor.ORBInitializerClass.com.sap.engine. services.ts.jts.ots.PortableInterceptor.JTSInitializer

There is a space character between "ORBInitializerClass.com.sap.engine." and "services.ts.jts.ots.PortableInterceptor.JTSInitializer" in your Java Startup parameters.

so because of this space, the system is picking up services.ts.jts.ots.PortableInterceptor.JTSInitializer as an unknown parameter in JAVA startup.

Remove this space and restart.

Siddhesh

Hello,

You need to use the config tool to do this.

You may need to configure the instance which is failing.

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/00/3ca3e81b5a4c749b860ab1ed1fb206/frameset.htm

You can get the instance name as from the first line of this post:

> JStartupIReadSection: read node properties ID18437450

So your instance number is:ID18437450

Check this thread for reference:

Siddhesh

Hello,

Check the std* and jvm* files, they should also give some information about the error.

Hello All guru.

Help needed uregntly.

I am unable to start my portal server. Yesterday the server suddenly closed down on it's own accord, and it will no longer

start. I was customising the ISS business packages, but I don't think this had anything to do with the server closing down.

Does anyone have a suggestion as to what might have caused this problem?

Thanks

hmm.. if its a project you are working on, I suggest that you open a SAP Connection and allow SAP to check the system too.

Now your ADS might not be working.

It's not strange

Siddhesh Ghag is correct; it's a 'space' character in the Java Startup Parameter cusing the issue

There is no space b/n "Dorg.omg.PortableInterceptor.ORBInitializerClass.com.sap.engine." and "services.ts.jts.ots.PortableInterceptor.JTSInitializer"

Remove the space it will work.

Hi there,

Please erase and re-type this parameters via config tool else try better reinstall the JDK.

Also see Note 741289 - Profile parameters of the J2EE Engine are lost.

Thanks and Regards,
