Hi,
Value mapping the value was stored in ID window, depending on condition value will be map automatically.
Ex. 001 is employ number of company A, but this employ is customer of another company B. Based on scenario value will be map either employee or customer.

Value mapping
Value mapping - converting a value in the source to another in target. Say in source it might me KM but in target u might need Kilometers
Converts source format into target format specified in the look up table.Suppose in source it might me IND but in target u might want India.
The value mapping function is used to map different representations of an object to each other.
The mapping rules are saved for different objects in a value mapping table

Value Mapping
*****************
An object can have different representations, depending on the context in which it is used.
Example
**********
For example, the person Mr. Smith has a particular customer number as a customer of mail order company A and has a particular employee number as an employee of company B. Both numbers refer to the same person.
We can use the value mapping function to map different representations of an object to each other. We can save the mapping rules for different objects in a value mapping table.
We can use value mapping in the following areas of SAP Exchange Infrastructure:
· Java mapping
· Message mapping (see Standard Functions)
ValueMapping using the Graphical Mapping Tool
Accessing Value Mapping defined in Directory using Java functions
Value Mapping replication

Hi
Value mapping is nothing but mapping the values of source message to the target message at the runtime.
For Ex: Source system represents the male gender as 1 and target system represents the gender as Mr.
We map the source to target using value mapping. We use a mapping look up if the representation mapping is dynamic and doesnot remain the same everytime.
