Dear Experts,
kindly help in this.
Can we use a SAP APO system as standalone without having any backend system in place? if we use, what will be the repercussions?
The client plans to use now only SAP APO, later on after 6-8 Months they will have SAP ERP, meanwhile they have got the SAP APO licence and want to use it as standalone. later on if we want to use APO with ERP what will happen, in the sense regarding master data maintenance etc.
Your thoughts/inputs are highly appreciated.
Regards,
Binod
Hi Binod,
The most fascinating feature of SAP modules are that they can function effectively as stand alone & at the same time can provide a very tight integration with other modules if used in consonance. You can very well use APO as stand alone tool.
Scenario 1:
If presently your client is having any ERP / OLTP system you can interface that system with APO & carryon with the planning functionalities. Later you can have the same master data transferred to R/3 ECC component. So consistency is maintained prior to & after migration with APO.
Scenario 2:
You can maintain a file for uploading the data in APO now & carry on with the planning functionalities in APO. As soon as the new ERP system is in place you can use this file to upload the same data, this will be a activity done through BDC but you will have to vouch for the consistency & also add some more entries to fields relevent for ERP functioning.
So in any case you can start using the present APO system available with you.
