Default value in material master

Hi,

Is there any way to keep default value for material master in a specific field while creating or changing the material master,

Like for whenever we extend sales view, Transportation Group field want to keep default 0001 or any other plant wise.

the easiest way to default values is to create a new material with reference to an existing material.

Alternatives for some fields is to setup MRP profiles and/or forecast profiles.

When creating a material master you can then enter the profiles and SAP will take the values from the profiles.

Hi Samir,

U can create a transaction variant for desired t.code like mm01 or mm02 using transaction code SHD0. Here u can assign Default value for different fields.

HI,

You can use the copy as functionality to create a new material with respect to already existing material. the existing material fields will be copied to the new material. some fields like description, UOM etc will not be copied. the view selection can be defaulted. the industry sector can be defaulted

Or in case if you have a large amount of materials then use LSMW.

Yes, as Jurgen suggested, the best Way is Created with Dummy Material Code with all Inputs and Whenever you are Creating a Material Just Use Copy From Function with Dummy Material code.

without usage of field exit you can not keep teh defualt value for master data.

Once you create the transportation field, it will be defaulted if you extending that same material to different plants.

If you want to find which fields you can default check for the specific material type in OMS2.
