Dear SAPper,
We have client of floor ceramics. When maintaining BOM, they asked for historical changes.
I plan to use just simple BOM, the history can be access from item changes.
But when i looking in web and book,
there are several alternative to be used
1. production version (multiple bom and validity put in version)
2, Engineering change management
Can you give me some enlightment for what is the best and the positif negative point of these several option?
Thank you very much.
Best regards,
Freddy HA

Hi,
For history requirement i think ECM is the best option. You have to activate the history reqmt for BOM in OS27 and create an engg. change no for changing the bom. you can use an engg change no with release indicator also for changing the bom. so after each change if you release the change no you cannot use this further to change another bom. So a copy of master data will get saved in the change no and this will be a reference. You have to activate object management record in change no. Alternate BOM also we can maintain different alternatives on the basis of validity dates and lot sizes. But the purpose is to define the same product with more than one set of components rather than history reqmts.
