Hi,
1.)Is there any possiblity to increase the length of Material Description more than 40 character?
2.)If possible, how to do it
3.)What will be the problem if increase the length of description.
Client not interested to maintain the details in other fields and they wanted to maintain in description field only.Since they are into electrical they required detail description for operating purpose.

The description is 40 Characters and it cannot be increased or decreased in size in standard SAP system.

the SAP standeard in 40 Chr. only if you want to add more text than use Po text in header detail.

u can use basic data text for maintaining long texts in basic data 1 screen of material master

In Standard SAP the Material Description Standard Length is 40 Charecters Only. You cannot Increase the Description Length.
Why Dont you use Purchase Order Text Field.
Try to Convince your Client.

In std sap system it is impossible to change...
It is always fixed for 40 char. only...you neither can increase nor decrease...
