Very good question...
With [IBase|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_03/helpdata/EN/df/385b16d5d111d19dde0000e8323350/frameset.htm] you can structure equipment, functional location, serial numbers, materials etc. Furthermore these IBases can be automatically create fromsales orders.
However, as standard they are not integrated into PM/CS orders which is a major problem.
