Hi Gurus,

What is purpose of Text Determination?

What are the scenarios where text determination is used?

What are the tables related to it.

Hi Arpita,

Text determination helps in when some information to flow from Customer Master, Material Master and also from one document to other.

And this can be hard coded or Transaction or from Master Data.

Ex: From Customer Master : If it is default for that customer, then the same can be maintained in CMR.

Similarly for Material: Ex: In case of Material Chapter ID is default. so the same can be maintained in MMR.

Then coming to documents:

From Sale order to Delivery and to Billing.

Some informaiton from SO to DL is mandatory

then the same can be hard coded.

Ex: Transport information to be printed in Delivery note.

For this in Sale order Header Text Add one text ID: ZTRA and ask ABAPer to Hard code the following:

Name of Transporter: ________________

Lorry No: _________________________

Then at the time of Delivery in the blank fileds they will enter the concerned information.

All this can be done in VOTXN.

Text Determination:In a business relationship, it is essential that business partners exchange information throughout the logistics chain. In sales and distribution, this exchange of information is supported by texts in master records and documents. You can maintain these texts for one particular customer or define them so that they can be used more flexibly.

Texts can be used in many areas of sales and distribution:

Sales notes for customers

Sales texts for materials

Explanations in order confirmations

Shipping instructions in deliveries

You can define as many text types as you require (sales texts, shipping texts, internal notes, supplement texts etc.) for master records and documents.

You can take the settings for the texts from Sales and Distribution Customizing under Text control.
