Master data information with 1:n correspondence

Hi all,

I'm thinking about how to face the following problem: we have the Business Partner master data and we want to add a new field (e.g. address). But the problem is that a business partner can have several addresses, so the simple addition of a field into md doesn't met the requirement.

I could create another master data and set in key the fields "customer" and "address", but it doesn't seem to be the better solution I think.

Any idea?

Regards,

Gianluca

Hi,

If you make changes to the existing master data, it may effect the places where you are already using this master data. Better would be to create a new customized field, a Z field, and copy it from this master data and make the additions to the "Z" field.

I don't think you have much choice other than to create a compound infoobject and add that to the cubes

Or you could just use the new compund infoobject joined to a cube in an infoset

(compound infoobject or DSO - both can be used for this)

Hi all,

thanks for your replies! about the solution proposed by Simon regarding the use of an infoset, I think this solution force me to change the definition of all the existing bex queries defined on the cube, isn't true?

how about add a "zipcode" in addition to make it unique.

But if there are two addresses in a single zipcode u might have a problem.

Try and make it unique.
