We are working on a feasible solution to use Business Objects . Currently the system uses oracle express and provides YTD rolled up at date /week or month level and the performance is good as well
How could we achieve the same in Business Objects
hii Najla
you can do the same in business objects using many ways
the first one you can do it in the report layer itself (WebI, Deski or watever)
you can make a filter of the data between the first day of the year and the system date , or a specific date you want.
the optimal solution that you do that at the universe level.
make some predefined filter in the universe level, using some oracle builtin functions to give the year number and make it equal to some prompts.
something like to_number(to_char(mydate,'yyyy')) = enter the year
same thing for the MTD , or week sales or watever.
export this universe to the enterprise, so users can handle it from the Webi by only draggin the predefined filter to the filters section.
hope this helps you
(also you can make some dimensions Year - Month - Week - Day, and put them in some hirerachy to be able to drill from year to day)
good luck
