Are there any ways to protect an Xcelsius generated SWF file located on a server and accessible from a browser from being downloaded, copied and decompiled?

Thanks,

Tony

Hi Tony,

The best defense for sensitive or confidential information is to have the SWF log on to a server at run time to get its data so there are no user name or passwords or sensitive data in the SWF.

The reason being that when you run a SWF it downloads to your temporary internet files to run and I don't think you can avoid that.

Hi Matt and Tony,

after several tests, I have found that at the moment only one software is able to protect Xcelsius 2008 generated Html/SWF files from decompiling or from being launched from the end user's computer.

The software is "secureSWF" and can be found here:

http://www.kindisoft.com/secureSWF/

I have personally tested it on some Xcelsius file I have created and I was unable to run the swf files from my PC after downloading them from the net.

Decompiling as well was not possible.

Regards,

Nico
