Hi there,

Depending on your business needs you can choose your own storage conditions & situations.

For eg: Storage conditions can be the creteria for storing a particular material. Perishable items should be stored in a cold storage, chips, capacitors should be stored in a temparature 25C & humidity 25%, petroleum fluids should be stored at 100C etc. In that case you define a storage condition for each item. It is maintained in Warehouse in material master.

Like wise situation can be like when you usually manufacture goods at your own factory you store it at a specific storage location. But insome exceptional cases you need to get them manufactured ata differnet location. In that case you store them at a differnet location.

After you define them, you aso need to propose a picking location sothat system automatically proposes the storage loc from which the items houkld be picked when you create a delivery.

MALA is shipping point / Plant / Storage condition

RETA is shipping point / plant / situation

MARE is MALA 1st, then RETA.

Apart from this you can also have some customized codes to suit your business requirement. Like if you intend to do a stock transfer from Plant A to plant B, then system should always propose storage loc X.

You can get further info at

Hope this helps.
