SAP Solution manager installation

Hi,

I am a bit confused regarding the fresh SAP Solution manager 4.0 installation.

In case of upgrade we can do it through Transaction code SAINT.

But for the fresh Solman 4.0 installation, I hve checked in the service.sap.com that we need Solman Kernel and both the ABAP and JAVA stacks.

Is it mandatory ABAP+ JAVA stack for any version upgrade also

Can anyone give a clear idea regarding this.

For your fresh installation you need to have dual stack that is ABAP and JAVA instances.

For Upgrade also you need to install a JAVA addon. JAVA instance is mandatory for Solution Manager.
