On what basis, the views are selected while creating the Material Master Records? And is there any predefined rules for selection the views while creating the material master data?

Hi,

There are no pre-determined rules for views selection. The sap software comes with the pre-defined selected views in the creation of the Material master record.

You can view the pre-defined views for material type in OMS2.

If you wish to alter the views you can alter them. But it is not RECOMMENDED to alter the views provided by the SAP.

Since MMR is a central component and all the modules maintain there data in this component. It is also depends on the modules implemented. Say for example if your company is not implemented SD module then you dont have to maintain Sales views in the MMR though standard SAP gives you the option for seleting the SD views for the material type.

There is No such View Selection Creteria / Predefined views on Creating Material Master. The Material Views Depends on Material type and your requirement.

But, Yes you should maintain Purchasing & Accounting Views for Every Material which you wish to Procure / Create Purchase Order. Else System will Throw the errors.

Hi,

There is no predefined rule to select the views while creating the master record. It all depends upon the business requirement of the client.

Suppose in some industry if the Raw material is to be sold then we may require to maintain the Sales view.. Similarly if a scrap material need to be valuated then we may require to select the Accounting view.

In OMS2 - Define material type.

In this transaction you can select list of view for specific material type.

Hi,

Based on the material type selected, views will be displayed.

If you want to add views you can use Tcode OMS2.Double click on mat type and it will take you to screen where you can select and deselect your views.
