SAP Distributed Installation on Cluster using HP Serviceguard

Former Member

Hi,

I am planning to install SCM 2007 system on cluster using HP serviceguard. The OS is RHEL 5 and database is Oracle. For cluster HP serviceguard will be used.

I want to perform Distributed installation i.e CI on node1 and Database instance on node2. If either fails it will switch to other node.

Do i need to use High Availablity option in sapinst for Distributed installation or we can just specify the virtual hostname of each node using the parameter SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME while running sapinst and perform normal distributed installation.

Incase i have to use HA, can someone guide me through the steps on how to do the same.

Regards,

Chintan

Chinthan,

Do you found this solution? I am also in the same boat but we are using Veritas Cluster.

Thanks,

RT

Hi,

for Open Source Failover one can use Red Hat Cluster for example to implement a HA solution for SAP. There are consulting companies (e.g. Atix) who implement such scenarios on customer site.

Thanks,

I´m not sure HPSG is supported.

As far as I know it uses binary-only drivers that are loaded into the LInux kernel space. See note 784391 - SAP support terms and 3rd-party Linux kernel drivers.

I suggest you read the documentation on the specific product you are going to use(as well as the installation guide - service.sap.com/instguides). It contains step by step configuration details depending on your requirements.
