I know there is ULOG, SLOG and ALOG but I want to know how to use them to troubleshoot transport problems. Any suggestions please. Thnx

Hi Bill,
Transport logs you can read from sap level as well as from o/s level.The logs at o/s level will be present under usr/sap/trans/log directory.
In this derectory log for a specific transport request will be there that will help you to analyse the error situation.
From sap level execute t-code stms_import and from menu goto-> tp system log
