Once I got everything finally working with CR2008 in VS2008 on my X64 machine, I uninstalled CRBasic in an effort to remove some errant dependencies my deployed DLLs still had to Version 10.5. (This might have been due to something else, but this was one of the things I did as I was attempting to resolve that problem.)
Note that I have DEP AlwaysOff and I am able to open old reports in design mode.
Unfortunately, I now have no way to create new reports in Visual STudio.
The Crystal Report item template is gone.
If I add a new Crystal Viewer and try to create a report from there, CR throws an error that says
The System cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002).
So is the embedded designer still dependent somehow on CRBasic? Are you supposed to leave CRBasic installed if you are installing CR2008?
Thanks.
I repaired my CR2008 install and the item template and wizard are there now.
CRBasic is still not installed which is my preference, so this seems to be okay.
Sorry for wasting the bytes.
