I've recently upgraded my R3 4.6c box to ECC 6.0 and I have a question about the installation number. It's still using the R3 installation number. I wouldn't think too much about it, except that I need to get a developer's key and when I register for it, I have to put in the R3 installation number since that's what's still registered in our system. That means any ABAP changes we make with the developer's key will still be registered under the R3 install instead of the ECC 6.0. Isn't that going to affect me later on down the road, especially during an audit? Shouldn't I be able to change the installation number to our ECC 6.0 number? I appreciate any information you can provide on this.
Thanks,
Ken
Here are the steps we used when we migrated to the NW license.
1 - Generate a license key from service.sap.com/system-data
2 - Delete the existing license number using transaction SLICENSE
3 - Sign off of the system and back on to the system with user SAP*
4 - Install the new license and restart SAP if necessary
5 - Request registered object and developer keys be reassigned by opening message under component XX-SER-GEN-SSCR
6 - Use transaction SECSTORE to fix RFC connection problems - read note 816861 very carefully
7 - If any problems occur, open a message under component XX-SER-LIKEY
