SAP's new multi-tenant facilities enable portal administrators to split one SAP NetWeaver Portal platform into separate partitions (or 'tenants') that appear as different portals when accessed by end-users...

So,

whether you administer a portal serving your internal organisation

or

you're an independent service provider offering portal facilities to external customers, you now have the means to deliver a range of different portals from within a single installation - optimising your system processes and infrastructure and reducing the complexity of your system landscape in the process.

And multi-tenant portal facility adds even more flexibility by allowing administrators to divide a portal into logical partitions, each with its own parallel entry point (referenced by a unique URL gateway) and dedicated content and navigation for the exclusive use of a customer. Support for customer-specific branding and corporate identity help clearly differentiate each tenant portal..
