Client Copy - should every one be logged off?

I have started a client copy, but was not informed that someone had a job running in background.

no one is logged on right now.

my question is

Is it important not to have anyone logged on when doing a client copy? and why not?

AND

If there is a job running in background (not sure what they are doing with the HR data), will it effect my client copy and how? Will my client copy not be complete? or will it just slow me down?

I hope I don't have to start over again

Hi,

No users should be working on either the source or target

clients, since this might cause inconsistencies. So its better that administrators lock users on the source client for

entering the system.

As far as my knowledge no background process is scheduled

to run in the source client which could modify the database at

the time the client copy process is running because it can

cause inconsistencies in the database just as normal

loggedu2212on users would.

See that space requirements for the tablespace before client copy

The below notes will help you to accomplish cient copy much faster :-

Thank YOu this is definitely valuable information. I remember too that we should not have anyone logged in.

It looks like my client copy completed by copying ALL the tables from the log, but in scc3 it indicates that it was cancelled, not successfully completed

in the log it directed me to sm21 , where i found the error logged at about the time the client copy should have normally and did complete

PXA_NO_FREE_SPACE occurred...

Not sure if anyone has come accross this error, any takers?

thanks

Can anyone confirm

After the client copy is performed to create a new client,

can it be re-run for the purpose of re-populated this new client created?

ie. SCCL run to create client 202 from client 200

can I refresh client 202 by just running SCCL to do the client copy from the source client 200 to recieving client 202?

thanks

Hi,

Yes you can populate client 202 from 200 by running SCCL in target client 202.

during this make sure no one is login into 200 client.

so SCCL will re-populate client 202 from client 200 , with all the objects that were populated in client 202 when it was first created, AND ALSO poplulate any new objects that may have been missed? This is in case the initial client creation did not work completely? or end near end of process?
