Hi I am going through the Best Practice Scenerios for MAM 2.5 and stuck on the

Upload the SAP Mobile Infrastructure client framework files:

Retrieve framework file located in

/jsp/win32/comp/folder named setup.exe

I downloaded the cd from service.sap and cannot find this file anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get the setup.exe this is making a reference to.

Any help would greatly be appreciated and rewarded

Cheers,

Devlin

Hello Devlin,

for installing MAM 25,you only need 2 downloads.

1.The MI CLient. Link to MI2.5 SP13 full client from swdc: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~swdc/002007974700000253932005D/MI25SP13FULL_0-10002889.zip?_ACTION=DL_DIREC...

2 The MAM CD with the syncbodefinition file and MAM.war(you still have downloaded it) Link to SR2 from swdc:

https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~swdc/012002523100000068392005E/51031176.ZIP?_ACTION=DL_DIRECT

For installing MAM there is a a very good InstGuide on the Installation CD you have downloaded. It is better than the Best practices.

I think the setup.exe for the "framework" you are searching for seems to be the MI 25-Client installation exe for win32.

For "the first steps" i would recommend you to make it easy and install the framework(client) directly by executing the installation file on the client.

If you want to use the BSP based installer(i think you will actually do this step from best parctice) you also have to configure BSP on WAS(Activating services like ME_FW_INSTALL in SICF).

Frank,

Thank you for the helpful answer but I guess my main question is I have the war loaded but only can view the user manager. I was going through the best practices to get something else viewable in this case orders, is there some other documentation that goes in this step by step besides best practices as the doc on the cd is kinda generic

Cheers,

Hello Devlin,

have you checked the "MAM Error Handling Guide" in the download? I think there was such a guide(can't check it at the moment).I also had this "user view manager" problem some month ago(but with MAM 2.1). If you type user view manager in sdn search you find some threads for this problem.

In my case the reason was the PI Backend plugin. After installing PI 2004.1 on the backend MAM was running fine and i could see the data on the device.

Hello Devlin,

please also check the smartsync Troubleshooting guide.

Under 3.1.5 the MAM User View Manager problem is described,Please try this link:

https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700003117292005D

If this link didn't work,go to service.sap.com/nw-mi

You find the guide as link on the page(in the Media Libary/technical guides)).

The guide contains a 8 Point checklist for the UserViewManager/No Application Data Problem.

Hi Frank,

I have checked the Plugin in Backend system it is

<b>R/3 Plug-In (PI) 2004_1_500</b>.

Please inform me whether this i satisfying the requirement for the plugin for Backend system.

In the configuration document it is mentioned that

<b>R/3 Plug-in 2004.1 SP01 for Mobile Asset Management 2.5</b>.

whether the above one staisfies that?

I am only able to see user view manager link on my device.

Please help me solving this.

Hi there,

you can get the MI client from your WAS system by following the following link:

http://<server>:<port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/me_fw_install/install.htm

<server>:SAP Web AS name

<port>:SAP Web AS standard port

if you are going to install on a PDA you will also need the Creme version, please look at note: 772334 "Download of a CrEme-Cab file with permanent license"

Good luck.

Best Regards,

Bart

Also you can goto http://service.sap.com/patches and then follow Support Packages and Patches" -> SAP NetWeaver" -> SAP NETWEAVER" -> SAP NETWEAVER 04" -> Entry by Component" -> MI Client
