error during WEBAs640sp3tosp5_patch installaion...It stops at Deploy via SD

Hi,

I Have problem with WEBAs640sp3tosp5_patch installaion...

I Have Installed MS loopback adapter and made setting also..

I Have Installed SQL Server 2000 developer edition as per the stes specified in install.html.. Sucessfully..

I Have Installed WEBAS640_java_sp5 also without any problem..

But i get a error during WEBAs640sp3tosp5_patch installaion...

It stops at Deploy via SDM/J2EE Engine...

The error is ::

SDM call of deploySdaList ends with returncode 4. See output of logfile D:\Program Files\sapinst_instdir\PATCH\MSS\callSdmViaSapinst.log.

I Have started all the 3 process in SAP Management console..

Dispather is running proeprly...

Server is also running properly..

But SDM Server doesnt start at all..

and jcontrol.exe in SAP MMC is alaways yellow it doesnt change to GREEN Colour..

and I also restarted the SYSTEM and started installation agian but i get error at the same step..

and i also tried to stop all the process in SAP MMC and started installtion again but again it stops at the same step...

what could be the problem....

can u please give the solution for this installation...

Hi,

I had a similar problem. But since i couldnt find any solution, I had uninsatlled the entire set up and started a fresh installation.Now its working fine.

I too uninstalled the entire setup and started a fresh installation. but even then it stops at the same point (Deploy via SDM/J2EE Engine).

can u please tell me one thing do i need to congiure my server before staring installtion..

means i already configured my MS Loopback adapter and started all the services in administration tools also but agian it shows the same error.

and do we need to restart the server after every installation..

can u please send me the step by step details::

Hi,

It looks like the SDM not running is causing the error.

Check the log files mentioned in the error meassage.

Also try starting the SDM manually from the SDM directory.

Do let us know if you find more problems.

Hi Srinivas,

Can you provide the callsdmviasapinst.log details. There

might be some error. Also after starting the SDM manually,

is it running properly? You can check in java.exe.log

Also you can check the sdm log files in the SDM directory.

There must be some error in the SDM log files, which we

can analyse.
