We are currently using SAP Gui 6.40 for our BI 7.0 and R/3 4.6 environment. We have a new user who wants to use SAP Gui 7.10 instead of 6.40. Will there be any bad effect on the systems or not? Please help me out in this regard.
Hello Your question to set on the contrary 😆 SAP official information :
On 14th of October 2008 support for SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 will end.
This means:
No more patches will be supplied (not even security updates).
No corrections will be implemented.
How to requests which are specific to release 6.40 will not be processed.
SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 will not be tested or used SAP internally anymore.
There is no extended support option for SAP GUI for Windows 6.40.
Since using a component which is out of support means a high risk it is SAP's strong recommendation is to start the planning for the upgrade to release 7.10 as soon as possible.
About your question, we not see any problem (only check and configure in system the BEX system information). Are you use
new BEX or only 3.5 ? It only settings problem ...

Hi
I´m very curious how the combination of SAP gui 6.40 works for you when running the NW 7.0. Do your users use the Bex analyzer? Does the combination of SAP gui 6.40 and bex 7.0 work for you?
I would really like to see how I can get bex 7.0 work even though we have an 6.40 gui.
Best Regards
Linda
