Query design with specific requirement

Former Member

Dear SDN members,

I have a specific requirement. I have set of chars in rows. In columns, I need to have first one kf and then one char and then the second kf. This is because the second kf's data should be in relation to the char inserted in between.

It should be like below :

Rows:

Kf1

char1

Kf2.

Please advise on how to get the char1 in between 2 KFs.

Many thanks

Shanthi

Hi,

What is the characteristic that you want to put between the Key figures?

Well, what you can do is, create a Formula Variable with as a Replacement Path variable. Assign the particular Characteristic Field.

In the settings, Replace Variable with InfoObject and then specify if you want to replace it with a Key or Attribute Value etc. Then specify the Dimension in Currency/Unit. It should be fine if your characteristic is a DATE field or Number or Quantity or Amount.

Hope this helps you in your task.

Hi,

My requirement is quite simple(to view) like below ;

kf1- consumption value

char1- emission type

kf2 - emission value

I think 3.x option of 'tabular value' might be perfect to resolve this. Just wondering if 7.0 does have this option.

Please advise.

many thanks

Hi,

I am sorry. I take it back.

OSS note: 1002271.

Reason and Prerequisites

After much discussion we have decided

not to include the table mode in BI 7.0.

Solution

There is (in our opinion) a better alternative to the table view:

Create a query with only one structure and use

Report Designer to design your own table view. This allows you

to arrange the columns and many other

formatting and grouping options as you wish.

Hence my earlier post - we have been caught on this

The other problem is that the tool mentioned int he SAP note is replaced witrhin 2 years (SAP ask you to use Crystal for this - at an additional license cost)

I expressed my displeasure to my SAP account Manager!

Hi,

Yes you can do this by using TABLE view,

In this you can set the object as you wsh,

if you are in BW 3.x then you can find the icon in top of menu.

Thanks,

Pavan.

All,

Thanks for the reply.

Apologies, I should have mentioned. I am using BI 7 Query designer. I couldn't find the option for the 'tabular view'. Please advise me on where to find it.

Many thanks

If you are NOT using query designer version 7 and are using 3.5 you can use the table setting in the query designer

define the query to be as tabular view instead of normal view (check in the query options, or in the query toolbar). You will then be able to move the KF where you want.
