Role of ABAPer in configuring Workflow to send an external mail

Hi,

We are trying to configure a workflow to send an external mail to Yahoo/Gmail/Outook.

I was asked to document the role of ABAP required for the same. I dont have an exact idea.

All I know is,if we have the exact Business object for our purpose all we need to do is settings and configurations.If we dont have the Business object matching our scenario, we have to create one and use the same in configuring workflow.

Let me know the exact role of ABAPer in configuring workflow to send an external mail , or else can anyone with a knowledge on workflow scenarios can configure the workflow.

Finally, is an ABAPer required to configure a Workflow???

i dont think ABAPer has anything to do with configuring workflow for that unless there was a need to extend the busines object.

To send an xternal email first da SMTP server has to be configured, this is done by BASIS consultant.

business objects like SOFM is used within workflow to send an external mail,this is done by workflow consultant.
