Hi Rizwan,

IPC (Internet Pricing Configurator) is the central place (Java based engine) which holds Pricing created and deployed from R/3 to IPC. You can configure the IPC front-end for Pricers (end-users) using Extended Configuration Management. IPC onsists of PME & PSE which will internally help you to create complex Pricing Procedures in R/3. IPC will communicate with all the other systems in the landscape (eg: CRM, BW, SEM, APO etc.,). Pricing Procedures are created in R/3 due to the advantage of FI & MM module integration. Standard Pricing Procedures created in R/3 and replicated to CRM (via middleware) are maintained in CRM (Pricing Opportunity/Quotation Management) but not changed - if you are using Order & Billing Management in R/3. From SAP CRM 5.0 onwards IPC is no more a separate instance. Now SAP recommends another Pricing Application called "VENDAVO"

Please note that we can create Pricing Procedures in standalone CRM as well.

It really depends on the business system land-scape requirements to use R/3 Pricing or CRM Pricing.

I hope I answered your question.....

Cheers,

Peter J.

as per version 5, you can use complete pricing in SAP ERP, BUT you still need IPC/VMC in CRM. to make it running this way, at least you need to have all condition types in SAP ERP downloaded to CRM. but the pricing configuration, condition records in CRM can be kept to minimum/none.

hope it helps.

CRM is web enabled and hence has JAVA components. R/3 does not have JAVA. Any routine which is Z and coded in ABAP will not reflect in CRM unless it is written in JAVA and deployed in IPC.

This is basic requirement for pricing routines to work in CRM if they are in ABAP. Standard routines are not required to be coded in JAVA.

Moreover, the config materials is handled by IPC in CRM.

No, in crm you have to use the IPC, no way to use R/3 pricing.

The IPC concept makes sense esp. if you need multiple pricing instances, e.g. when using pricing in mobile sales or in a web shop. If not, the concept is just unfortuantely in place ...
