Cross Period Lot sizing

Hello everybody,

We have a scenario wherein we are running the SNP optimizer in daily buckets. However the production time for the FG is exceeding one day. We observed that the optimizer does not generate any planned order.

We then activated the cross period lot sizing in the resource master and rerun the optimizer. Now the optimizer run is terminated and cross period lot sizing is not considered.

However when we run in the weekly bucket, the planned orders are created.

has anyone come across a similar scenario. I would like to know if there are any additional settings required to use cross period lot sizing. Is there any relation between the production time and the

Hi Kedar,

Can you check indicator cross-period activity in resourse .

This is what SAP says for : Cross-Period Lot Size, please make sure you have set all the sependencies .

Use

If you set this indicator, the SNP optimizer is able to execute

cross-period lot size planning. During this planning, the SNP optimizer

takes into account the setup statuses from the previous time bucket, if

the same production process model (PPM) is used to produce a product.

This means that the optimizer only schedules one setup operation. The

system then calculates the setup costs and setup consumptions (fixed

resource and material consumptions) that were defined in the PPM for a

resource for which the Period Lot Size indicator has been set.

Dependencies

o You must activate cross-period lot size planning in the SNP

optimizer profile, meaning that you must enter a time horizon in the

Cross-Period Lot Size field, over which the optimizer is to take

into account the setup statuses from the previous time bucket, if

the same PPM is being used to produce a product within this time

bucket.

o The PPM that is taken into account by the SNP optimizer during

planning must use this resource.

o The PPM is permitted to use a maximum of one resource for which the

Period Lot Size indicator has been set.

o The PPM is not permitted to use any other resources with fixed

resource consumption.

o The PPM duration must be less than or equal to the smallest bucket

from the planning buckets profile being used.

Also please go to log when it failed : tcode : /SAPAPO/OPT11 and SLG1.

Hi Kedar,

You need to set Cross Period Lot Size Horizon in Discrete Constraint Tab in Optimizer Profile as well.

This is the Horizon for which Cross period Lot sizing will be considered.
