Item transferring from catalog to SRM + SAP.

Hi Gurus

We have installed MDM catalog on SRM 5. The items on the catalog are txt descriptions only and not linked to a material master. Please can somebody explain if the correct required composition of the item that will be transfered from MDM to SAP R/3 via an SRM shopping basket and what ""item category"" it should be appearing in R/3 (normal, limit, text etc).

Hi,

Are you talking about OCI field or just Application side Item Type ?

Item Category and Item Type are different.

Item Category:

OCI field: NEW_ITEM-EXT_CATEGORY_ID

Unique key for an external category from the schema above, independent of the version of the schema (Supplier side Category ID)

Item Type in SRM: Material, Service, Limit

OCI field: NEW_ITEM-SERVICE

Flag: the item is a service.

Hi. But what item type should I be to using for items tranferred from catalog to SRM and SAP when the catalog item is text and for a non-service goods (e.g. computer parts)?. Is it item type Material and what is its equivalent in SAP R/3?

Hi,

Yes. NEW_ITEM-SERVICE ="" , blank means Item Type is Material. That is default value.
