Hi, we are working in a customer that have a central arquitecture with two server, one development (5 gb RAM, 1 CPU, 1 server node 64 bits, DB2) and the other production (3 CPUS, 16 GB RAM, AIX 5.3, 1 server node 64 bits). That arquitecture provide service to all world because the customer have office in America, Asia ... In miami for example have slow time response. We are analyzing improvement to get good performance. ¿What do you think about that arquitecture to provide service to all world? What would be the good arquitecture?
We have track with httpwatch, a request to the home page after log-on, and we have seen that much time that the portal consume is in provide css and js before serve innerpage , my question is if is possible to cache at system level that files?
Other actions that we are planning:
-Cache configuration
-Stress testing
-http compressión and customize virutal machine.
...
Any suggestion about performance will be wellcomed.
thanks in advanced.
Regards.
Hi Optima,
The other thing you might consider is optimizing the performance of the network.

Hi Optima,
Above posts are great links to Portal fine tuning which can help you with your portal performance.
Beside fine tuning, look into External Facing portal. Keep your roles/worksets light and not too deep....also make sure your starting "landing" page on the portal is light as well (ie. no big images, flash stuff, etc).
There's a great weblog about External Facing Portal features written by Daniel Wroblewski here: .
One good post about things to consider about portal; performance by SJ:
You can find upgrading/patching document link as below (higher SP level does help with portal performance):

If worst come to worst and the Portal performance is impact business performance, please raise an OSS message with SAP ASAP.
Hope that helps.

Hi Optima,
You can also refer to the following guide which talks abt the performance improvement
Let me know if you need anything as we have done fine tunning based on certain tests.
I would recomend to do network test, memory test, disk drive testing , Disk Performance Counters,CPU and Memory Performance Counters,MEMORY DUMPS, JAvA DUMP analysis.
