We are configuring the Integration Kit for SAP and are at a place where we can now save a Crystal Report into a SAP BI role. How do you make a role a content bearing role so you can save a report into the role?

Please have a look at the Installation Manual for the Integrated SAP Solutions. It lists the permissions you need for the content bearing role
