Discontinuation Material

Hi

Is there any setting to make that if the stock of dicontinuation material is not enough to cover requirements then the total requirement is to be transfered to the follow up material instead of partial allotment from discontiued material and remaining from follow up material.

Dear,

It can be achieved by using the Alternative item: strategy = 2(100% check) in akternative item data setting.

Withdrawal if 100% availability, set the following in BOm item screen for all items that you want to reserve, enter:

Strategy (value 2)

Priority

If you do not enter a priority, the system checks the items in the sequence in which they are transferred to the availability check.

Usage probability.

Then system will check the availability and if the requirement qty is not available in the material concerned, then it will go for the next priority component and check for 100% availability...and so on...

Hi

Thanks for your reply,as Rajesha suggested one procedure is defining as alternative items ,but as the functionality of alternative items and discontinuaton are different please suggest any methods to achieve this with the discontinuation functionality.

Hi,

What you are speaking about is not discontinuation, you can achieve your goal by simply replacing an item with another in a BOM.
