Document generation wizard

Hi.

When creating documents by using document generation wizard in SAP, is there any way to limit SAP from running trough all BPs in the database? We have client that is currently storing over 25000 BPs in the database, and this leads to a long waiting period when running document generation wizard. It seems to me that SAP loops through all BPs when looking for valid documents. With 25000 BPs, this takes approximatly 2-3 hours to run.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Dear Runar,

In the window 5 of the Document Generation Wizard you can select the BPs that you want to be considered.

Click add customers and add the list of customer that you want.

If from the first you want to add to the second there is a gap you can select them one at the time. Again you can after re-select Add customer and choose some more until your list is not completed.

Thanks for the response.

Although I agree that this is an option, it is very manual (and tedious job) for the users to hand pick 500 clients from a list containing almost 25000. I have desire for a solution that is a bit more automatic.

Hi Runar,

you may narrow the selection of BPs by using the customer group & the properties.

Selecting by properties allows for a very wide range of criteria.

Hi Runar,

Assigning some properities or probably customer group to the Business Partner Master Data can resolve your issue.

Running Document Generation wizard for Business Partner for a specific number of BP as per the customer group or properties will probably take lesser time.

You can select the BP with specific properties and customer group at Step 5 of the Document Generation Wizard.

Hi all.

Problem solved. We ended up using properties on the BP. We have set property to true on all BP that exists in ORDR. All new BP that is added to the system will need this propery to be set to true before they can be added. We went from 25000 BP in the selection list to 3000 - the speed has increased quite a lot.

In Step 5 on clicking Add customers selection creteria appears

select customer group.
