Error 'Sync Role' publishing crystal report from Content Mgm RPTADMIN

Former Member

Hello, I have some errors using Content Administration Workbench.

I have successfully excecute the following steps:

1) I installed Business Object Enterprise XI 3.0 and BOE FIX 2.0 on the same server running BI 7.0;

2) I installed BusinessObjects XI 3.0 Integration for SAP and Fix 2.0;

3) I configured a SAP (BW) entitlement system after setting SAP JCO.

4) I imported SAP users and roles into BOE CMC and set the folder for the contents (SAP/2.0/)

5) I logon to BO using user and password of BW system;

6) I created RFC link to service BW plublisher via Registered Program and check with success the system;

7) With transaction /CRYSTAL/RPTADMIN, I configured a new BOE system, in all the configuration tabs. Then I try to publish a report crystal, I received the following error: '00002: Error during the synchronization of hierarchy folders for the role: TEST_CE' (the original error message was in italian language although I'm logon in english: 'Si è verificato un errore durante la sincronizzazione della gerarchia di cartelle per il ruolo: TEST_CE'.) In BOE, the folder /SAP/2.0/ID4CLNT100, the user, that have Publisher role, is set to Administrator.

Another error is the setting about the http configuration of BOE system:

On the HTTP tab, in the field 'Path' the Installation Guide shows to insert the value 'SAP' as vitual Path. It's correct? Trying to launch the report (mouse right-button on report -> view report) from the Content Administrator Workbench, the Internet Explorer URL is set to http://server01:8080/SAP/reportView.do?bw_id=D41HOMGVWE4MA8378E0JORA5S&sap_sysid=ID4&sap_client=100&..., but nothing appears.

Any ideas about these issues?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Ingo,

I will answer to your questions:

you using the BW Publishing service ? yes, service bwcepubsvc run on Windows 2003 server If so make sure all the entries are correct and using the full

qualified names

you created a TCP/IP destination in transaction sm59 for the publishing service and it works ? yes, the configuration is set via Registered Program and test is ok

in transaction /crystal/rptadmin :

- you created a BOE Server Entry and added the roles that you want to use for publishing to the role tab yes I added roles as suggest into Installation guide (BOE_SYSTEMS_ADMINISTRATOR, BOE_PUBLISHER, BOE_CONTENT)

- you also did add the entry from transaction SM59 for the service yes

- what happens when you test the system definition on the second tab with the TCP/IP destination ? green status: Successfully connected to the target system

you also went to the management console and did configure the SAP authentication and imported the roles from the SAP server ? yes I imported roles: all roles like 'BOE*' and user role which contains the folder and report crystal. those roles need to match the BOE Server definition roles

you did add those roles to the adminsitrator group - just now for testing purposes ? yes

The root folder named 'FOLDER1' as already said is creating into CMC; but the publishing action does'nt finish and no report is publishing.

Hi Giovanni,

in the registry under the key :

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\SAP

You should also find an entry for the Publishing Service and for the BW Publishing. Both have a value "Trace" which you can set to "Yes".

directly under the key SAP you will find a value "TraceDir" where you can set the folder for all the logfiles.

Please run the publishing again and attach the logfiles here in the forum

hi Giovannie,

couple of questions:

- Did you ensure the base folder created in the CMC and in the transaction /Crystal/rptadmin are identical ?

- did you assign the necessary rights for the roles in the BOE system ?

Looking at your log file, it appears that the publisher user is having trouble updating the Folder1(Content Role Folder). There are multiple reasons why this can happen. Please verify the following items to resolve your issue.

1-Make sure Folder1 role contains a Unique description in the language that the report is created in. This is done in tcode PFCG

2-Make sure Folder1 role is imported into CMC > SAP authentication

3-Make sure publisher user has appropriate rights on CMC (BOE). This seems confirmed already.

4-Make sure Folder role is added to the Enterprise system in Role tab within /crystal/rptadmin or that the system is check as the default system

5-Make sure your SAP user is configured/created with the right Lincese type. This can be confirmed in CMC by verifying the type of lincense configured on your BOE system (Named/concurrent). Then under User and Group administration, check the properties of your user to validate its lincense type. They must match to proceed

Hi Giovanni,

we would need the logfile for the publishing service and the actual publishing. You should be able to find both entries in the registry.

You can also attach a file here in the forum.

Hi Ingo,

We are having the same issue with the same SAP/BOBJ environment as Giovanni... I will follow the thread up to here and also generate the trace log files...

Thanks

Hi Ingo,

From /crystal/rptadmin.... '00002: Error during the synchronization of hierarchy folders for the role.

I am setting everything up and will post in about 1 hour...

Hi Ingo,

Ok... It seems that this error has been resolved by adding the ADMIN and PUBLISHER roles to the BOE Adminstrators group.. I will clean this up...

But, then I don't know where the next issue is coming from...

From /crystal/rptadmin I can publish the report. The report is published to BOE in the following path... Public Folders --> BWPCLNT333 --> the remaing role folder structure as in BW... is this structure not supposed to be created un SAP --> 2.0 --> BWPCLNT333 --> the remaining role folder structure as in BW ??? Why I ask is that when I try to run the report from the GUI or the Portal... I get the following

Service cannot be reached

What has happened?
URL http://<sapbwservername>:8000/(ce_path_pr)/viewreport.csp call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available.

Note

The termination occurred in system BWP with error code 404 and for the reason Not found.
The selected virtual host was 0 .

What can I do?

What do I need to check config wise?

Thanks

Ok, this has also been sorted...

In transaction SICF there were 2 HTTP request handlers set up for ce_url... the redundant handler was removed and everything is working fine now.

Hi,

take a look at the 3 blogs I created recently outlining all required steps for the publishing configuration.

Publishing part 1

Publishing part 2

Publishing part 3

You will also find the items with the URL configuration (transaction SICF, HTTP Request) in there

Thanks Ingo.

I applied your suggestion and in BOE I added Roles and User SAP into Administrator group. But publishing action does'nt work.

Then, to folder 'SAP' in CMC, to the security management I added directly the group named ID4100@BOE_SYSTEM_ADMINISTRATORS and also the user ID4100/BOEADMIN.

Then logging in BW with user BOEADMIN (role BOE_SYSTEM_ADMINISTRATORS), running /CRYSTAL/RPTADMIN transaction, and publishing again a role/folder, the sync error message doesn't appear. Good.

But unfortunately, the publishing action remain active (with hourglass for many minutes); in SM50 the work process dialog is in Hold Status; I checked in SMGW the status of connection to crystal publisher: it's 'Connected' starus.

On server BOE (Windows 2003 Server), task manager has two process 'bwcepub.exe', but CPU usage is 0%.

I checked in CMC and now I find a new folder called like the role I published under path SAP\2.0\ID4CLNT100; the created date/hour is after the publising action, but I don't find any reports.

How I can trace the comunication from BW and BOE Publish service?

Is there a security problem again?

Hi Giovanni,

lets go through the items to make sure the configuration is all correct:

- you using the BW Publishing service ? If so make sure all the entries are correct and using the full

qualified names

- you created a TCP/IP destination in transaction sm59 for the publishing service and it works ?

- in transaction /crystal/rptadmin :

- you created a BOE Server Entry and added the roles that you want to use for publishing to the role tab

- you also did add the entry from transaction SM59 for the service

- what happens when you test the system definition on the second tab with the TCP/IP destination ?

- you also went to the management console and did configure the SAP authentication and imported the roles from the SAP server ? those roles need to match the BOE Server definition roles

- you did add those roles to the adminsitrator group - just now for testing purposes ?

thanks

Hi Giovanni,

the second issue is most likely based on the situation that you haven't been able to publish a report.

You mentioned that you imported the roles from the SAP System. Did you also assign the necessary BusinessObjects Enterprise rights to those roles so that those roles have the right to actually create content on the BusinessObjects Enterprise system ? You could easily test that by adding those roles to the Administrator role from BusinessObjects.

thanks
