brconnect: "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied" after Upgra

Former Member

Hello,

I have a Problem with our SAP-System on AIX 5.3 TL6 SP7 (64bit)

I have Upgrade from Oracle 9.2.0.7 to Oracle 10.2.0.2, AIX 5.3 ML3 to AIX 5.3 TL6 SP7, DBA-Tools 7.0 (33) + Patches (...., and Patch for AIX TL5 or higher 5496862)

Now i have the Problem that brconnect do not work, for example:

brconnect -c -u / -f stats -t all -f collect

or

brconnect -u / -c -f check

this worked before, but not now.

Only i set user+password then i works.

brconnect -u system/mypassword -c -f check

Is it possible that there a changes in Oracle + brconnect ?

Or need i a password file or something else from Version 9.2.0.7 ?

saparchive is working for example (backint)

thanks

dennis

Hi,

Please change the password for ABAP Schema and then re-start the system.. Then this issue will be resolved..

Do the password reset via brtools..

From Note 113747:

brarchive, brbackup, brconnect, brtools have permission 4775:

-rwsrwxr-x   ora is not created in the database. So if you want to start it with that user, try to create it in the database.

Is your OPS$orasid user created in the database?

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi

brconnect -u / -c -f check

This will connect using the user OPS$<user>

brconnect -u system/mypassword -c -f check

This obvously connects with the system user.

So your problem is either, you cannot connect with the OPS$-user, or he is not having the permission to logon. Did you apply the sapdba_role.sql already? Just to make sure, check if brconnect has the correct file permissions:

sidadm> ls -l /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run/brconnect
-rwsrwxr-x 1 orasid sapsys 5337376 Feb  6  2008 /usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run/brconnect

Hi Denis,

I'm a little confused.

I thought the <SAPSID> or <DBSID> in a SAP environment had only 3 letters.

But in your case it has 4 -> SAP1

-rwsrwxr-x 1 orasap1 sapsys 6670666 Sep 09 12:06 brconnect

SQL> select * FROM DBA_USERS WHERE USERNAME = 'OPS$SAP1ADM';

'CONNECT /'

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

BR0310E Connect to database instance SAP1 failed

i have to say that it is very curious.

Also, the latest error indicate that the oracle client is not properly installed and/or environment variables issues.

could you

1-> tell us the exact name of the user that is executing the BRCONNECT

2-> tell us the exact <SAPSID> or <DBSID>

3 -> provide environment variables

Hi,

Thank you for the information.

Now it makes a little sense

OK, the last error is clear, lets see if you realize:

> select * FROM DBA_USERS WHERE USERNAME = 'OPS$TS1ADM';

> 1-> tell us the exact name of the user that is executing the BRCONNECT

> orats1

little teasing so you thing what is wrong here

.

OK, you are showing us that the OPS$ user for the TS1ADM user is created. But you are telling us that you are trying to execute BRCONNECT with the user ORATS1.

1) BRCONNECT is not supposed to be executed by ORA<SID>

2) for the previous reason, by default there is no OPS$ user created for ORA<SID>

3) I assume that you do not have created the OPS$ORATS1, if this is true then the following will always fail:

> brconnect -u / <any option>

Former Member

if i run "brconnect -u / -c -f check" as user ts1adm

i get this error

ts1adm> brconnect -u / -c -f check

I forgot about that.

The issue is that BRCONNECT cannot find the oracle library.

Environment variables are not correct.

Do not set:

> ORA_NLS10=/oracle/TS1/1020_64/nls/data

this is wrong:

> LIBPATH= /oracle/TS1/1020_64/lib:/oracle/TS1/1020_64/lib32:/oracle/client/92x_64/lib:

SAP does not like much this shell, you should use csh

>SHELL=/usr/bin/ksh

take a look at the note 819829 Oracle Database 10g: Instant Client 10.x on Unix

Note that

> NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.US7ASCII

is not supported in Oracle 10g. You will have to change the characterset.

Hi,

you changed NLS_LANG.

But what is the correct setting in your database. If in your database the characterset still is AMERICAN_AMERICA.US7ASCII, then the change of environment variable will achieve nothing.

In TS1adm you have defined ORA_NLS33, I assume that your kernel is 6.40 or 46D_EXT as both need the oracle 9i client.

For that reason SAP works and BRCONNECT fails as it needs the oracle 10g

Your LIBPATH is not correct.

You will continue having problems with BRCONNECT as it will not be able to find the 10g oracle client.

Please, review the note I mentioned.

Set the environment variables as it is mentioned on the note.

Install the instantclient if needed.

i have set this with:

LIBPATH=/usr/lib:/lib:/usr/sap/SB1/SYS/exe/run:/oracle/client/92x_64/lib

Hi

SAP note[819829|https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lcyZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=819829] says:

Library Search Path:

The library search path defines the order in which directories are search for shared libraries. The name of the environment variable that defines the library search path is platform dependent (see also SAP note 830578):

- LD_LIBRARY_PATH (LINUX, SOLARIS, HP-UX)

- SHLIB_PATH (HP-UX)

- LIBPATH (AIX5L)

...

6. In case some of the files are reported as not found then please check the value for library search path environment variable for the <sid>adm user. The env. variable be set as:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/sap/SID/SYS/exe/run:/oracle/client/10x_64/instantclient.

7. In general, you have to make sure that LD_LIBRARY_PATH does not contain a directory of another ORACLE_HOME (server or client) or of another instant client of another release in a position before /oracle/client/10x_64/instantclient. This could lead to unforseeable behaviour.

Then your LIBPATH setting is not correct.
