BW Portal patch upgrade problems

Hello all,

We were running BW 7.0 SP 13 on a server, which also have an enterprise portal configured on it. The EP was used to display BW query reports for some users.

Recently the BW package was upgraded to SP 16. After the patch upgrade was done, many trivial defects started appearing on the portal (for example, people got locked out, and some colors in the portal theme changed etc.).

What could have gone wrong here? Is it because the EP version on the server was also not upgraded to SP 16? Is there any check list available on SDN indicating what are the possible problems (and solutions) which could arise when SP 13 is upgraded to SP 16?

It was found that when upgrading the BI POrtal, the underlying BI system also should be upgraded to the same patch level. That was not done in this case, and hence the errors. All errors vanished, when the patch upgrade was rolled back.
