Hi Carlos

We can diffrenciate Unicode and Non-Unicode by the amount of Memory it takes to store the date.

For example say We want to store a char..

Generally Unicode supported installation Takes 16 bit to store it while NonUnicode System will take 8 bit...

So Unicode Installation will take More Memory Space as Compared To NonUnicode Installation...

You can Check Out this Link It will give you detail Understanding of This Concept....

If you intend to use multiple languages such as Japanese, Chinese, Korean etc. apart from English then you might want to consider going unicode.

Please note that starting with NW04s ECC , unicode will be mandatory for such cases.

If you will just use English, you could just install non unicode, and be able to do with less memory , CPU requirements.

Also IDES versions are typically only available in non unicode.

This is a very simplified answer, but just a thought.

Thanks,

Sanket
